What is your perception of Douglas? What one event or passage crystallizes the  essence of Fredrick Douglas for you. He is a strong slave who realizes his position and strives for a better life.  He  would be a kind man who would inform his insight for the liberation of slaves.  (chapter 10 pg. 62) Douglas taught some of his fellow slaves an education, so  that they can read, write, and obtain knowledge for themselves. 3. What is the main point Douglas makes about education He says that one of the favors his Thomas did for him was to awaken him  even more to the realization that education was the key to Douglass’s  freedom Whites did note want slaves to be educated because then they can  intelligently argue their points as to why slavery is such an atrocious thing
