English P5 1/24/08 Emily Dickenson Life o Never left America o Left her small village a few times o She was a genius o Took precautions to protect her mind, imagination, and thoughts o Her mother became an invalid (her mom was always sick) so Emily  and her sister took care of her mother o In order for her to fulfill all of her duties, she knew that she couldn’t  have a social life. She would write about a poem a day o Her father was a weird guy, but she was his favorite child o She dies in her 50s When she is in her early 40s: o Was a agoraphobic: phobia for wide open spaces. Gets panic attacks if  they get out of their safety zones. o she will not meet face to face to many people, instead she would send  out notes, or talk to them from the head to the foot of the stairs o She also wouldn’t leave her home o She would dress in all white
