Name: Diane Zhan Class: Speech 120 Tuesday Chapter 2: Study Questions 1. What is the self-concept? Self-concept is the relatively stable set of perceptions a person holds of himself/herself. 2. How does the self-concept develop? By responding to the question “Who am I?” over and over again. 3. What is meant by “reflected appraisal”? Reflected appraisal is the fact that each of us develops a self-concept that reflects the way we believe others see us. 4. Give an example of when someone was an ego booster/ego buster to you. Give an example of when you were an ego booster/ego buster to someone else. An example of when someone was an ego booster to me – My boss sometimes comes over to my desk and tells me that he is very happy having me in this company. An example of when I am an ego booster to my co-worker – Once my co-worker made a big mistake at work, I told her it was alright, everyone makes mistakes.
