Not all EBP projects result in statistically significant results. Define clinical significance, and explain the difference between clinical and statistical significance. How can you use clinical significance to support positive outcomes in your project? Statistical significance refers to when a relationship between variable is accurate and not random or caused by luck. It is used to determine the reliability of findings. Statistical significance occurs when the researchers can explain the relationship of variables using factual information (Schober et al., 2016). As such, the researchers can confidently report that a particular effect is due to the factors under investigation. Majorly, statistical significance is applied when testing hypotheses. A hypothesis is reliable when the P-value is higher than 0.05. A p-value is the probability value used to show an effect between variables (Schober et al., 2016).
