M E M O R A N D U M TO: ADV 318J Students FROM: Sarah Bovagnet, Michael Breighner, Erin Cutchen, Tess Levitan, Melissa Martin, Vera Mirkina, John Murphy and Chris Ramirez DATE: November 2, 2010 RE: Project 3 -- Analysis of a Print Advertisement The purpose of this memorandum is to describe a major project that each of you must complete individually. This project is worth 11% of your grade in the course and must be turned in before class outside Jester Auditorium -- no later than 9:30 -- on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 . Late = 0. You are encouraged to turn your paper in early to avoid a potential disaster. Since you are a rapidly developing expert on the subject of advertising, we would like your opinions regarding one of three automobile magazine ads (Ford Fiesta, Nissan Leaf or Cadillac CTS Coupe ). These ads all appeared in a recent issue of The New Yorker .* Note that jpg color copies of these full-page sized ads are available on our Blackboard class website under Course Documents. Note the demographics of readers of The New Yorker from MRI Doublebase 2010 research were: median age 49; 64% graduated from college+; median household income $92,318; professional/managerial 43%; and, top management 15%.
