Genetically modified crops are crops that are changed in order to better survive and thrive in certain climates. It is used to increase food productivity and yield of crops. This is being done in order to feed the growing number of people on Earth. Although the technology has improved, it is still very expensive. It is being tried with the tapioca or yucca plant. They are trying to elevate the level of nutrients in the plant. The projected time that the plant will actually get to the farmers in Africa will be sometime after 2018.
