Chapter 1: a. Because there are some questions needed to be addressed by looking at the original data format. Example questions are "What data currently exists, and what format is it in?", "Who entered the data?", "Who maintains the data?", "Which department owns this data?", "Is the data accurate and properly formatted? If not, can the data be modified to make it suitable?", "Can you combine the data from more than one source?", "Can you derive the data you need from the data you already have?" b. One obstacle is that for large files, such as a database that contains millions of records, it might be impractical to look at the data in its original format. c. There are some general tips which can improve ACL's usefulness, such as refining strategy with test data, eliminating errors from data and experimenting with data. Chapter 2: a. We can analyze salaries, bonuses, hiring dates and other human resources information based on ACL.
