Jordan Spitzer COML 1109 Pro- Music in America has been thriving since its existence. However, music in Great Britain has also been quite successful since its existence as well. One of the greatest yet most overlooked forms of music, progressive rock, also known as “prog rock,” was quite prominent in both the United States and Great Britain in as early as 60s up until as late as the 80s or even 90s. While many progressive rock musicians and bands of musicians arose from both the United States and Great Britain, the musicians from Great Britain had a much more successful run than did the musicians from the United States. While progressive rock was present in both the United States and Great Britain, the success of progressive rock was much more evident in Great Britain than it was in the United States. The fruition of how progressive rock came to be is quite an interesting one. Progressive rock is characterized by a number of aspects. One of these aspects is the use of different and offbeat rhythms.
