Week 2 Assignment
The study of statistics is branch of math that encompasses not only the collection of data, but
also the organization, analysis, interpretation, and even presentation.
(Wikipedia). There are many
benefits found when using statistics. The daily inundation of data, from receiving news and information
via social media outlets, tuning in to the nightly television news broadcasts, or receiving the daily
newspaper, can be overwhelming and unclear for people in today’s society.
Using statistical reasoning
makes one able to understand how that data effects them, their immediate location, or the world as a
whole. You cannot make decisions on how to behave or how to act, unless you can determine what data
to trust, and what results to believe in.
Using data collected responsibly, and accurately, to educate and
ourselves and help us make life choices can be vital to our success as individuals, as well as communities.
