Unformatted text preview: Karl Brauer EPD 609 Engineering for Space Engineering Disciplines in the Development of Spacecraft Landing Systems Mechanical Engineers a) In the development of spacecraft landing systems mechanical engineers would be critical to the design and fabrication of the landing systems themselves. They would need to interpret the demands of the mission and design the system to account for these demands. They would utilize their knowledge of stresses and loads to insure that the landing system can withstand those of the mission. b) The mechanical engineer would need to be in constant communication with the other project engineers and fully comprehend purpose of the mission in order to correctly assemble the system and guarantee that it works. Computer Engineering a) For spacecraft landing systems, computer engineers would need to develop the hardware for all the aspects of the mission.
