Unformatted text preview: Creating a Dual-Boot Laptop Installing Windows XP 1- Once you have powered on your laptop insert your version of Windows XP. 2- The Installer will run automatically. Let the installer run. 3- Several minutes during the installation a window will appear. Read the text thoroughly and click the next button. 4- The next page will have the title of Personalize Software. Read the text. In the blank slots type tee-2o1(name slot,*make sure it is the letter o), type HDSB in the organization slot. Click next. 5- On this page it will ask you for an administrator password, type tee2o1 in the slots. Click next. 6- On this page it will want to setup the proper time for your computer. Set the date an time to your preference. Click Next once you have completed this. 7- The installer will now continue for several minutes. 8- The next page will ask for a work group or computer domain, in this slot you will type TEE201 (make sure it is the number 0) 9- The installer will now continue for several minutes. 10- When the installer finishes its will come to a black screeen and will say press any key to continue. Press any key. 11- A series of windows will now appear. On the first window read the text than click next. 12- On this window you will click the not right now. Click Next. 13- Click LAN for your Internet connection type. Click next. 14- On this window you will check both boxes at the top. Click next. 15- On this window you will click not at this time. Click next. 16- On this window you will enter tee-201 into the the slot, if you want you can add more accounts. Click finish. 17- Eject the Windows XP CD. Creating a User Account in Windows XP (Optional) 1- Click the start button on the task bar. Then click the control Panel icon on the right had side of the menu bar. 2- Now the Control Panel window will appear. Here you will select User Accounts. 3- A new window will appear. Here you can select a task you wish to do. Select Create a new account. Fill in the field to your preference. Click Next. Read the text on screen to select the account type. Click Create Account. You have completed making a new account. Disk Defragmenting in Windows XP 1- Click the start button. 2- Click the My computer icon in the menu bar on the right. 3- A window will appear. Right click in the Local Disk icon. 4- Once you have done step 3 click properties. 5- A window will now appear, click the Tools tab an click on Defragment Now... 6- The Disk Defragmenter window will now appear. Now will click on the Defragment button. Let it defragment now....
