Motivation Worksheet Try answering the following questions in about two sentences each. Writing your answers out will be much more helpful than just thinking about them: 1) What is meant by an “adaptive end”? An adaptive end is a result that is subject to change. 2) What makes human motivation unique and how is this relevant to your life? Human motivation is unique because it allows us to pursue goals with higher flexibility, and it often involves intermediate goal states with no inherent reinforcement or adaptive value. This can be a problem in that goals can become detached from their adaptive ends, but there is also a freedom in this. 3) We talked in class about how the value of water is inherently subjective. It depends entirely on your perspective (e.g. water when you’re desperately hung-over is practically medicinal). Feces are disgusting to humans, but food to many species. Choose something you regularly encounter in life (besides water & feces) and describe how its value is inherently subjective by giving examples of at least 3 different ways of viewing
