Masters in Financial Analysis Fall 2010 ECON 722-21 – Fixed Income Valuation 2 Units Course Description and Schedule (subject to change at the discretion of the instructor) Friday: 2:30pm to 6:30pm 300 Montgomery Street, Suite 1130, San Francisco, CA Instructor: Satish Swamy, CFA (email: Satish.Swamy@ucop.edu) OBJECTIVES This course provides a foundation for understanding the global fixed income markets and also an in-depth analysis of important concepts. The goal of this course is to: 1. Prepare the students for the “Debt Investments” portion of the CFA exams (I and II) and 2. Provide students with the opportunity to study many bond portfolio management applications that implement important concepts . This course will be taught via a combination of lectures, example problems (with solutions), and screen prints from Bloomberg to illustrate how the concepts are applied to bond portfolio management. Topics that will be covered in the curriculum include term structure modeling, yield spreads, spot and forward rates, risk measures such as duration
