Bright eyed and bushy tailed I moved into my spacious dorm room located in the center of the “best college city in the nation” at Northeastern University with some pretty high expectations. Coming from a background like mine, where the whole world was my oyster and I took advantage of every opportunity presented to me, I immediately began searching for my niche at this large school. Happy to be in a big city bursting with opportunity, I immediately began looking at study abroad programs, extra-curriculars, anything to satisfy my ambitious nature. Never quite settling in, the first semester at NEU moved by in a blur of people, classes, and an overwhelming amount of insight about what I desire, and don’t desire, from a college. Most of my classes are averaging about one hundred students per professor when coming from a small boarding school where my largest class was 8, this was something I never got used to here. I would like to find a school with approachable professors who are willing to assist me in my developing

Unformatted text preview: interests. I quickly realized that the absense of a real campus left me feeling slight displaced and without a sense of “home” that I waited for in those first months. The one thing Northeastern has given me is a clear understanding of how much I would like to continue my studies in the business field. I have found my Introduction to business class very interesting and find that my personality clicked in the most pleasant way. This continued distachment I was feeling lead me to the decision to transfer to a school hopefully with bigger and better opportunities while also feeling a sense of belonging in a community. Ever since visiting Emory’s campus in my junior year of high school, I have always felt a pull towards it’s welcoming community as well as it’s impressive Business School. I feel strongly now more than ever after experiencing a semester in college that Emory University is my next bridge to success and happiness....
