Ryan Stevens January 17, 2006 AP US History Block 1 Chapter 34 Reading Guide London Economic Conference - This was a conference that was held in London in 1933 where the object of the meeting was to check the worlds depression by means of currency. This meeting was a total failure due to the unwillingness of the countries to compromise and the US and their attitude towards the subject. Tydings-McDuffie Act- This was also known as the Philippine Independence Act and was passed on March 24, 1934. This act gave the Philippines independence from the US on July 4, 1946. This act was lead by Manuel L. Quezon. Good Neighbor Policy- This was a policy that was implemented by Franklin D. Roosevelt and the United States in 1933-1945. This refers to Latin America and how the US will respect those countries and their rights. Reciprocal Trade Agreements- This was passed in 1934 and allowed for tariff agreements with separate nations, namely Latin American countries. This would eventually result in the lowering of taxes. They would be reduced as much as 50% and
