Ryan Stevens January 24, 2006 AP US History Block 1 Chapter 36 Reading Guide II George F. Kennan- He was an advisor and diplomat and is also known as the father of containment. He was big in the Cold War where he wrote the Truman administration’s anti-Soviet policy. He was there throughout the 1940s. Nuremberg trials- These are two set of trial fro Nazis who were involved in World War II and the Holocaust. This was held from 1945 to 1949 at the Nuremberg Palace of Justice. The men on trial were charged with war crimes. Douglas MacArthur - He was the main military leader for the United States during World War II in Asia. He was key in rebuilding Japan after the war and played a big role in preventing Communist takeover in Korea. iron curtain- This is a term that refers to the areas of Europe that were divided at the end of World War II until the Cold War, 1945 to 1990.
