Ryan Stevens January 23, 2006 AP US History Block 1 Chapter 36 I Reading Guide Taft-Hartley Act- This was an act that was passed in 1947 and it restricted the power of labor union. It changed the Wagner Act that was passed in 1935. This act was also known as the Labor-management Relations Act and was supported by Robert Taft. Servicemen's Readjustment Act- This act was also known as the G.I. Bill of Rights and it was passed in 1944. This act provided education for veterans of World War II and also a year of unemployment compensation. In addition it provided loans for homes and businesses. Veteran's Administration- This was a department of the US government that was established on July 21, 1930. The function of the administration is to coordinate government activities affecting war vets. The VA also provides hospitals for veterans and serves them there and their war related injuries. Sunbelt- This is a section of the United States that is in the South and Southwest. It is called the sunbelt because it is sunny and dry in this region. This area was given this
