Unformatted text preview: In 1989 there were protests there that were protesting China’s economic instability and Communist repression and corruption. Mikhail Gorbachev- He was the leader of the Soviet Union from 1985 to 1991. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1990 for his efforts in bringing an end to the Cold War and the Soviet Union. He was responsible for the end of the communist party in the SU. Boris Yeltsin- He was the President of the new Russia in the early 1990s. His main concern was economic restructuring and also massive privatization due to the old communist ways. Persian Gulf Crisis- ADA- Clarence Thomas- He was an American jurist that is a part of the “conservative wing”. He is just the second African- American to serve on the Supreme Court. He is currently serving in the Supreme Court right now....
