Ryan Stevens February 8, 2006 AP US History Block 1 Chapter 40 Reading Guide Roe v. Wade - This is a case that comes out of Texas in 1970. This was a case where Norma McCorvey was trying to change the Texas abortion laws. She was trying to gain the right to abort. "Reagan Revolution"- This term describes Reagan’s Presidency from 1981-1989. He was the 40 th President after he was the 33 rd Governor of California. He was famous for many tax cuts, reducing inflation, and increasing the military, among other things. George H.W. Bush- He was the 41 st President of the United States and was from Texas. He was big in foreign politics and was most known for dealing with the Gulf War, the fall of the Soviet Union and the beginning of the “new world order”, and NAFTA. Tiananmen Square- This is a plaza in Beijing, China. This is an important place that is in the middle of Beijing because it separates people from the Forbidden City.

Mikhail Gorbachev- He was the leader of the Soviet Union from 1985 to 1991. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1990 for his efforts in bringing an end to the Cold War and the Soviet Union. He was responsible for the end of the communist party in the SU. Boris Yeltsin- He was the President of the new Russia in the early 1990s. His main concern was economic restructuring and also massive privatization due to the old communist ways. Persian Gulf Crisis- ADA- Clarence Thomas- He was an American jurist that is a part of the “conservative wing”. He is just the second African- American to serve on the Supreme Court. He is currently serving in the Supreme Court right now....
