Ryan Fessler Where Have All The Heroes Gone? Page 288 Journal #3 Stephen Mosher’s article, “Where Have All the Heroes Gone?” creates some interesting points when he talks about how Nike, criticized for their working conditions in alleged sweatshops, has been the sponsor of popular athletes such as Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods. In my opinion, athletes shouldn’t be blamed for having endorsements. After all, it is Nike’s problem and maybe the government should step in and get involved somehow. Numerous athletes have a contract with Nike, and many of these athletes are viewed as heroes. Roger Federer and Tom Brady are an example. There are however, a lot of athletes that have also been involved in scandals or have created controversy, such as Mike Tyson and Latrell Sprewell. Sports are extremely popular around the world, and of course athletes are going to be thought of as heroes. I agree with the fact that a lot of athletes are not heroes and do not want to be. However, there is a select group of them
