EC 441 Lab 1 Solutions 1. Calculate analytically the expected data rate (bandwidth) for the CBR source parameters used in 1.2.4. Expected data rate = 500 Bytes / 0.005 s = 100 kB/s = 800 kb/s 2. From the data generated by the simulation in 1.2.4, plot the data rate and explain the results. Total data received = 100 kB/s × 9.5 s = 950,000 bytes 3. From the data generated by the simulation in 1.2.4, what is the number of bytes received at node 1 after 1 second? Check this result analytically. From the data the number of bytes received at node 1 after 1 second is 4,900 bytes. 4. Double the packet size and reduce the time interval by two. What happens to the data rate? Check with the simulation, and explain. Expected data rate = 1,000 bytes / 0.0025 s = 400 kB/s = 3.2 Mb/s The simulation plot is shown below.
