MP2 Fourier Analysis PHY 257 In this lab you will accomplish the following tasks: a. Become familiar with the use of the oscilloscope b. Become familiar with the use of the PASCO Model 9307 Fourier Synthesizer c. Calculate the Fourier coefficients for three periodic functions (square, triangular, and saw-tooth pulses) . ynthesize these functions by summing the first nine terms in the d. Synthesize these functions by summing the first nine terms in the corresponding Fourier series using the Fourier Synthesizer (page 1)

Section V-1a: In this section we will use the oscilloscope as a DC voltage. The DC output of the signal generator is monitored by a digital voltmeter (DVM) as well as channel.1 of the oscilloscope. Set the DC output V DVM as measured by the DVM to 3 Volts. Measure the displacement y of the oscilloscope beam when V is applied. The oltage V easured by the oscilloscope is given by: V = voltage V osc measured by the oscilloscope is given by: V osc y S y , where S y is the sensitivity of channel 1. Compare V osc with V DVM t t h b d f Oscilloscope y Repeat the above procedure for V DVM 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, and 2.5 Volts Signal generator Ch.1 DVM (page 2)
