How is it used to measure cognitive processes in infants (hint: pages 175-176)? Habituation means that one will adapt to the stimulation after a repeated amount of time. When infants are born they immediately recognize the mother’s voice. This is because when inside the womb the fetus is constantly hearing the mother’s voice. Also after a couple of days after the baby is born, it will realize the mother not only by her voice but also by her face. Once the baby sees the face a couple of times, it will remember that face. 2. a) Outline Piaget’s four main stages of cognitive development, b) Discuss psychologists current view on Piaget’s theory of cognitive development.
