Personalized Nutrition and Exercise Plan 2 Personalized Nutrition and Exercise Plan I have been struggling with obesity for a majority of my life. I became obese at a very young age not because of lack of exercise, but due to over-eating. As a child my father would place an over abundance of food in front of me and I would eat everything he gave me to win his affection. Later in life I realized that my father has issues of his own that he needs to deal with and that I should start saying no to his placing seconds and thirds before me. But by the time I had realized that eating what he placed in front of me was unhealthy I was already severely obese and I have been struggling with this problem ever since. People think that it is easy to remedy obesity, but it is not I am living proof of this. I have friends that say “well just loose the weight” and I tell them that I am trying but it is not that easy. There are factors out there that make it difficult to lose weight, such as eating out, not exercising enough, friends insisting that it is all right to eat that piece of cake, and in general friends and family that are not supportive. People do not realize that losing weight is hard work that takes planning and support from family and friends to become a reality for the obese person. I have been aware of the consequences of being obese for a long time. I am more apt to be diagnosed with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes than someone else that is the same height and age as me. I do try and watch what I eat and avoid salt at all times. I visit my doctor regularly to make sure I am maintaining good cholesterol levels and blood pressure levels. My doctor lectures me at almost every visit how important it is for me to lose weight not just maintain it. Having a lifestyle that does not leave time for planning menus and taking part in an
