ARCE 2344 Statics and Strength of Materials Syllabus Course Description: Internal effects of forces acting upon elastic bodies and the resulting changes in form and dimensions. Includes stress, shear, bending moments, and simple beam design Semester Hours: 3 Textbook: Applied Strength of Materials , Spiegel. Student Contribution: This course consists of (2) lecture hours and (4) lab hours each week. Each student is expected to spend 3 hours per week preparing for class. Attendance is crucial for success in this course. Three (3) consecutive unexcused absences may result in the student being dropped from the course. Plagiarism: Any student found to be plagiarizing will be dealt with in the manner set by the college and the division. Intentional plagiarizing will not be tolerated. At this time the penalty is that the student will earn an F in the class where caught plagiarizing and be put on scholastic probation by the college.
