Social Media Best Practices in the MIT School of Architecture + Planning Given the rapidly changing realm of Social Media, advice only lasts so long. However, here are the most useful Best Practices I have compiled. Please refer to them. Presenting the School as a uniFed whole is key. Each department should have a voice, but unity and communication between departments is important. These are lessons I've learned from experience with mistakes and with successes over the last several months. You need a proFle image: do not use the default provided by Twitter (a bird silhouette) and ±acebook (a question mark). Your image gives you authenticity. Make sure your proFle image is not too detailed or busy. Keep it simple, bold, and identiFable. Make sure you have permissions to use the image. And please make sure it has good resolution. – Colors and Backgrounds. Do not use the default that Twitter provides. Choose a color theme that identiFes you as part of the School (gray and the warm spectrum of yellow,
