By mixing solutions of salts, we can form completely new compounds. We can watch chemical reactions and see how they work. Mixing solutions is one of the most fun parts of a chemistry lab. Materials: Your lab kit and distilled water. Safety: Wash hands before and after this lab. Do not work near food or drink. Part I: Prepare the solutions What is a solution ? A solution is a mixture of 2 or more substances. What is an aqueous solution ? An aqueous solution is a mixture of a substance with water. Directions: 1. Label 12 test tubes with the numbers 1 – 12. 2. In test tube #1, prepare an aqueous copper sulfate solution. Measure one small scoop of copper sulfate into a test tube using the small end of the straw-scoop. Add 5 milliliters of water to the test tube using your graduated
