Wayne Kocher ECN 211 – McHenry 2-25-09 Blackboard Assignment #2 Daniel Gross’s article “More Gloom, Please” discusses the reactions and opinions regarding the two government actions taken to help the nation’s struggling economy. The two actions are the Economic Recovery and Investment Plan created by President Obama and the Financial Stability Plan introduced by Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner. Each plan sounds like it will work, and I feel that it will take a combination of the plans to help our economy get back on track. I am not a professional economist, but it seems that both plans need to take effect. I understand President Obama’s plan and the importance of job creation, and I understand Treasury Secretary Geithner’s plan and the importance of stabilizing the financial industry. Obviously, people cannot spend money if they are not making any. If jobs are not created, how do we ever expect to come out of this slump? But on the other hand, lending institutions need
