Homework #5 Environmental Economics Due in class Wednesday 19 May You may work in groups of up to 4 people Part A: Capitalist firms sometimes create “brown” products such as the Hummer and they sometimes create “green” products such as the Toyota Prius. In this assignment, you will do some research about a specific green product. 1. Choose a green product that is not a type of car. Go to the product’s webpage and provide details about the product. How does it use its “greenness” to help market the product? 2. Based on its production, use and disposal at the “end of its life”, explain why the product you picked is truly “green” relative to alternatives. (hint: if you had picked the Prius, you would contrast its greenness relative to a Hummer). 3. Explain whether the product’s greenness increases the demand for the product. What is the causal link? Could this product sell for a significant price premium relative to other products with similar characteristics that do not have the same
