Ocean County College 2 General Chemistry I DL1 Chemistry Department Purpose The purpose of this laboratory is to expose the student to the chemistry laboratory equipments and to gain knowledge about basic measurements. Procedure Length Measurement Measure the lengths of three objects with a metric ruler with centimeter and millimeters. The three object were Iphone, Tape holder and credit card. Iphone- 10.50 cm 105.5mm Tape Holder- 10.20cm 102.4mm Credit card 7.90cm 79.0mm Temperature Measurement Measure warm temperature with a Celsius thermometer using a 100ml beaker half fill with hot tap water, the temperature was 60.0C. To measure boiling water the half fill beaker was placed above the burner and waited until its starts to boil and took temperature it was 94.3C, then waited 5 minutes by chronometer and took temperature again of boiling water it was 103.1C. Measure cold temperature filling a 100ml beaker with cold tap water and record temperature it was 16.2C. Take the beaker half filled with cold water and add ice stir with thermometer and take temperature it was 1C. It was observed the variable changes in temperature in each procedure. A problem that was encounter was the short time range to read temperature before its drops.
