18 September 2010 ATTN: Matt Williams, Kewa EMS Director CC: Dr. Jimmi Charli, Medical Director CC: Marvin Martinez, Supply Officer RE: New Medication Request for Implementation Dear Mr. Williams – After several hours of research by both Mr. Zuniga and myself we have come to the conclusion that Methylprednisoline, hereinafter referred to as Solu-Medrol, would be of great benefit to the people of Kewa Pueblo and those who reside within our response area. Due to our rural environment and significant transport times we need an Anti-Inflammatory drug which addresses the chronic inflammation caused by Asthma and Anaphylactic reactions instead of just treating bronchoconstriction with medications such as Albuterol and Atrovent. Pre-hospital administration of Solu-Medrol has been shown to decrease hospital admissions by over 20%. Included in this packet of information are several scientifically based studies and articles supporting the implementation of this medication.
