Mini-Case # 6 Forecasting part II Mr. Zoomer was so impressed, he almost didn’t yell out his trademarked slogan, “Think ZoomZoom!” after seeing your previous memo on gasoline forecasting. He now has decided that he will put to the task of forecasting demand for ZoomZoom Motorcycles at the marina sales location. You sell a substantial number, partially due to replacing models of owners who have run them off the curvy roads and into the Missouri river. Your task, should you accept it and continue to be employed at the marina, is to use trend-adjusted exponential smoothing to calculate a FIT (look on page 427 for what a FIT is). Once again, the Excel tutorials might prove handy and are available in a multitude of places. You will also want to study example 10 on page 428 for how to calculate a trend- adjusted forecast. One note regarding the tutorial. The tutorial locks several cells that you need to change, so you have to build your own excel spreadsheet, or unlock and modify the tutorial.
