1. Define the term impulse . A. Impulse is the product of force and the time interval during which the force acts. Impulse produces a change in momentum in an object. 2. Using the principle of momentum conservation, explain what happens when a moving billiard ball collides with a stationary ball (cue ball hitting the eight ball). A. The cue ball hits the 8 ball and since the external force of the moving cue ball hits the stationary force of the 8 ball’s momentum will increase, while the cue balls momentum will decrease. 3. Energy – Is simply the ability to do work – someone pushing against a car or a chair is exerting energy. B. Power – is the amount of work done over a period of time.
