Careers in Early Childhood Education E01.V.4.3 Assignment 8_08 Part A: The HighScope curriculum, developed by David Weikart, is one of the four curricula discussed in Lesson 5. This curriculum has an effect because intentionally promotes use of metacognitive thinking skills. The three objectives for this curriculum are plan, do, and review. The children plan what they want to do during their activity time. Such as, the centers they want to go to, what they want to play with, and which of the other children they would like to play with. Then they do, meaning that they carry out their plans. The children are usually given an hour for work time. After that, they review . This is a time when the children form small groups to recall and discuss with the teacher and other students what they learned and experienced during their work time. There are a few adaptations I would make to this curriculum. The first being a longer play time. Giving the children more time to carry out their plan helps them to take their time and enjoy doing their activity the correct way. I would also provide more activities and exchange them out during the week. The change in activity choices will keep the kids excited and
