1.Adult ADHD – Difficulty focusing on activities, organizing and finishing tasks, managing one’s time, following instructions, and/or being overly restless, “on the go,” and perceived as not thinking before acting or speaking. 2.Agency – The belief that one can influence the nature and quality of one’s life, rather than believing that one’s fate is determined by reacting to circumstances not in one’s control. 3.Anxiety – The fear of an imaginary threat. 4.Bipolar disorder – Episodes of depression followed by episodes of mania. 5.Cognition – The act or process of knowing in the broadest sense. 6.Conscious – Knowing or perceiving something within oneself. 7.Coping strategies – Ways people devise to prevent, avoid, or control the emotional distress of unfulfilled needs. 8.Defense mechanisms – Mental strategies for controlling anxiety. 9.Dysthymia – A long-lasting, mild form of depression. 10.Generalized anxiety disorder – Persistent and often nonspecific worry and anxiety.
