Without Mitosis cells that are damaged would not regenerate and without Meiosis gender specific cells would not appear and therefore reproduction would be impossible. While Meiosis can only occur in certain cells, -those which are destined to become gametes, Mitosis can occur when organisms are damaged or worn out cells and to be replaced. If meiosis did not occur, babies- or reproduction of any kind would cease. Because reproduction occurs in the Eukaryotic cell it is an important part of a human’s life cycle for meiosis to happen.

Let’s say you have an open wound that needs healing or an infection that needs to be expelled from the blood, Mitosis then occurs. Forming new blood cells that will replace the damaged ones and then go on to form healthier cells until eventually all bad cells have been eliminated.
