POLS 2910 May 12 th 2016 Lecture 1 State and Society Political Culture: A set of values and attitude of a particular group or person that affects their political views. Catholics are against same-sex marriage. Ontario has a strong history to endorse the federal government and stand by the government. Whereas Quebec and B.C does not. Reform party is a traditional and historical party which values traditions. Special Interest Group: Neo-Liberalism, a group which supports groups who were disadvantaged. Gay advocates etc. Visible minorities: grouped together with many cultures. Aboriginals look at themselves different from immigrants. French Canadians have been fighting for many years to be different from English Canadians. Multiculturalism was done by Pierre Trudeau to get rid of Canada’s Biculturalism. Indigenous people have lived in Canada since the 4 th century 1608 the French people arrived in France 1763 the British Arrived 1763 Royal Proclamation Special rights given to Aboriginal people by the British.
