His artwork has been defined under the category of realism, meaning that the artwork tries to produce accurate depictions of reality. However, in Giuseppe Arcimboldos paintings, the overall image is realistic but the ideas he present are abstract. Arcimboldos artwork is known for taking related objects and arranging them into portraits of royalty and even Arcimboldo himself. His most popular collections of artwork include The Seasons and The Four Elements. However, Giuseppe Arcimboldos artistic journey ended with his death in Milan at the age of 66. In Arcimboldos piece, Water, which is part of the Elements series, the use of fish, crustaceans, and other aquatic creatures forms the portrait of a woman.
