Largent 1 Michael Largent Mr. Boyt Advanced Writing 6 November 2008 Leaning to the Left In light of the upcoming election, I have attempted to define my political views based on the left and right-wing political spectrum. However, I do not feel that my beliefs fall completely into either of the two categories. Economically speaking, I favor the left-wing’s ideas of helping the middle class workers instead of allowing big businesses to control all of the money. In spite of this, my conflicting opinions on social issues, such as allowing gay marriage and banning most abortions, force me to fall in the middle of the two political wings. After taking the political compass test, I found that I leaned towards the left-wing based on economy, and was slightly libertarian on social issues. This simply means that I believe money should not be controlled by big business, and I feel there are some rights the government should control and some freedoms the government should allow.
