Land of opportunity 2 Coming to the United States My name is Guadalupe Gomez and I live in Fontana California I am currently staying with a relative whom I have lived with since I was five years old. I moved here from Baja California which is Mexico in a city called Mexicali. Both my parents died in a car accident when I was a child and my Aunt Rosa went to Mexicali and brought me here to the United States. It was difficult coming over to the United States everything was different. Although it was difficult to learn English in the beginning and adjusting to a new culture I am thankful for the endless opportunities I have been granted. My Aunt Rosa is my legal guardian and adopted me officially when I six, she works as a nurse at a near by hospital she is Mexican American just like I came to be. My aunt has taught me several great things about the United States. Aunt Rosa tells me that that Mexican Americans account for more than 12.5 % of the United States. (Wikipedia 2000) Mexican’s have migrated to the United States for quite sometime now by the 1900’s approximately 500,000 people of Mexican ancestry lived in the united states.( Englekirk& Marin 2009) In the city of
