Topic: o Comparing the effect of various traffic loads on an Ethernet network. Objectives: o To compare the throughput performance of an Ethernet network in scenarios of traffic sent with regard to different packet sizes and network loads. Implementation: o The model was implemented with a 30 node 10 Mbps coax Ethernet network with an X of 200 meters and Y of 100 meters in a bus type physical topology as shown in figure 1-1. o The original network was modeled using the rapid configuration function and was based upon given parameters from the set of laboratory instructions. Increased traffic was simulated by using a higher delay time due to excessive simulation time when using actual increased traffic and packet size was set at 1024 bytes. For purposes of comparison, there were a total of nine 15 second simulation runs each with a progressively heavier traffic load.
