Axia College Material Critical Thinking Video Transcript Critical Thinking [Student speaker:] When I look at material in college I find that I have to think very critically about it. I have to look at the main points but I also have to go beyond what it says in the book and think for myself. And I think that sometimes that wasn't pushed when I was in high school. But now it is pushed. [Woman speaker:] Critical thinking is thinking that goes beyond the basic recollection of information. It involves asking questions, making decisions, and comparing new information against what you already know. By asking questions like, "Where did that come from?" Or, "Why does this happen?" Critical thinkers don't assume everything they see and hear is absolute truth. This is one of the number one abilities employers value. If you learn to be a critical thinker as a freshman you have an advantage on the job search when you're ready to begin interviewing. So, what process does the brain go through when you critically think?
