Lauren Searle January 29, 2006 Summary of Chemistry Article:  New Chemistry a World Away Chemistry and Industry , April 5, 2004 i7 p16(2) Summary : As exploration in space becomes an increasingly feasible event, a new branch of  chemistry has emerged: exochemistry is the science of chemistry in space.   In the past, scientists have used aspects of chemistry to find out more about the  planets and other bodies in space which have been landed upon on various  missions.  Different wavelengths of light, such a UV and IR have been used to  identify the composition of these new terrains.  As permanent manning of space  is an imminent possibility, exochemistry is needed to determine how to produce  the chemicals necessary to sustain human life. The challenge of creating chemicals as we know them on Earth is the fact that  the conditions in space are so different.  Whereas chemists have formulated
