Thomas Molineaux October 3, 2010 Thesis: Political science, as a field of study, is constructed around the strong connection between the past and the present that provides undergrads with the skillsets necessary to prepare for their post-graduation plans. I. UNC’s Department of Biology contains a variety of courses that provide both broad and detailed areas of study. a. There are numerous introductory courses at UNCDB. i. Basic courses such as BIOL and CHEM 101 expand on physical and life sciences. ii. Additional courses include classes on natural science, organism structure and diversity, and psychology. (E1P3S1) b. Additional courses are designed to direct a student towards their prospective field of study. i. UNCDB has various biology electives; some are accompanied with labs. ii. Allied sciences takes up a majority of the upper level courses and ranges in classes on physics, anthropology, geology, and astronomy to microbiology, nutrition, and biomedical engineering. II. The compilations of these courses are intricately woven to make up a degree in biology.
