ECE 331 — Microprocessors and Digital Systems http://angel.msu.edu/ Instructor: Prof. N IHAR R. M AHAPATRA Solutions to Homework 4 Instructions: Solve the following end-of-chapter problems from the Microcontroller Theory and Applications: HC12 and S12 (second edition) required textbook. Register Block: The HC12 has a 512 byte register block containing memory-mapped registers that allow one to turn on or off specific HC12 subsystems, configure the HC12 for a specific application, and provide status information for monitoring system status. Port System: The HC12 port system provides an interface to the outside world via a complement of input and output ports. Clock and Timer Subsystem: The timer subsystem governs all HC12 time related activities. It allows input signal parameters (frequency, period, duty cycle) to be measured by the HC12. The Timer Subsystem also allows user-defined pulses or repetitive digital signals to be generated by the HC12. The Timer Subsystem may also be used to count pulses. The HC12 is equipped with clock-generation circuitry to generate internal and external clock signals to be used by the CPU and on- and off-chip peripheral devices. Memory System:
