Both interrupts and resets are considered exceptions. That is, they cause a break in normal program flow. A reset is usually caused by a hardware or software malfunction. When a reset occurs, the processor is restarted from a known state. An interrupt is a break in normal program flow. An interrupt may be caused by a software malfunction, an internally generated hardware or software event, or an external hardware or software event. In response to an interrupt, the processor will perform an interrupt service routine specific for the interrupt that occurred. Fundamental-2.
