Tutorial 1 Introduction to Microsoft Access 2007 Microsoft Access: A relational Database Application Microsoft Access is a relational database application that is part of the Microsoft Office  suite of applications. A database is an organized way to store data, and database software usually provides  features that allow a user to add, delete, update, and manipulate (transform) data. A relational database, such as MS Access, stores data in tables. A table consists of rows (records) and columns (fields). The relational model used by MS Access allows us to store data in separate tables and  then link tables via common fields- the primary key/foreign key relationship. A primary key in a table is a field that contains a unique value for each and every record  in the table. A foreign key is a field in one table that contains values that are stored in a primary key
