Hogue, 1 Mitch Hogue 03/27/2008 Enc1102, sec.0410 J. Stewart Reflection Paper I presented a dialogue to my group members about harmful diesel emissions and what our local community can do to address the issue. From their responses and objections to my argument I have gathered various viewpoints, and more importantly lack of viewpoints, on this topic. The group's feedback has led me towards a more focused position and I can now begin to narrow down further research to strengthen my argument. Harmful byproducts are emitted into our environment and our world’s breathing air everyday. Diesel engines, which are the backbone of our mass shipping industry and all transportation services, emit particularly high quantities of nitrogen oxides. Many important organizations are becoming involved in improving this nationwide (and global) problem. The fact remains, however, that this issue runs heavily amongst our local communities.
