Kevin Chou AP Art History Beautiful Artwork What is beauty? As most people would define it, beauty is a combination of qualities that pleases an individual’s aesthetic senses. Beauty can also convey certain emotions to different individuals, and it is the way that certain emotions are convey to the viewer and the way the painting can speak to the viewer is what makes something so beautiful. A piece of artwork is usually the most common medium that the adjective, beautiful is fitted to. In most cases, this is true. But it is the way the artwork pleases the aesthetic senses and the emotions that it stirs up that makes an artwork beautiful. Vincent Van Gogh can define beauty through the artwork Starry Night. In this painting, Van Gogh used a unique technique to paint the vast night sky. The technique is neither classified as realist or impressionist.
