Kevin Chou Economics 5/24/2010 Fed: Economy better, rates to stay low- http://money.cnn.com/2010/04/28/news/economy/fed_decision/index.htm? postversion=2010042815 Fed decision: Interest rates unchanged, economy improving Over the past few weeks, we’ve been studying the functions and purposes of the Federal Reserve systems and money control. I can therefore use what I have learnt on this topic and link it to this article. This is the main inspiration for my presentation. The main message of this article discusses the decision making of the Federal Reserve. The Federal Reserve is the central bank of the United States; it conducts nations monetary policy, making decisions regarding the quantity of money in the economy. Their job is to insure that the inflation is in check, to maintain full employment, and to make sure there is economic growth. The decision that the Feds made was they decided to keep the interest rates low while the economy is improving. During 2008, the Feds cut the interest rate to near 0% to spur the economic activity, and
