22 Priorities n You must demonstrate that you have gone  to the ACPHS library to find sources n Find at least  3 scholarly/academic sources Different sources may “weigh” differently – a  book differs from an article, an article differs  from a reference source, such as Oxford Ref. If you find more, this will only strengthen your  paper (and, likely, your grade)

33 Scholarly or Academic? n Sources that are in journals/books have been  edited and reviewed n Peer-reviewed?:  this is the highest standard for research material. it means that experts, working in the specific field,  have reviewed the material. n Look for authors with professional credentials in  their field: often with Ph.D.’s, M.D. degrees, etc.  n Look for publications from schools, academic  publishers, etc.

Starting out: n Start with the Library’s databases, not the  internet  – Why?  n Start with sources that you know are  credible n Save time: You have a better chance of  finding sources that are authoritative and  credible (this adds to your credibility). n
